My Favorite Thing About In N Out Burger …

… As a vegan, I don’t give a fuck about In N Out Burger. They have nothing for me to eat there, and since I can get a coke anywhere on earth, I’d rather eat elsewhere. But there is one shining bit of awesome in regards to this burger spot, and that’s this Rival Mob (which is definitely different than Rival Bob) tshirt. This was the west coast edition, with the appropriate colors. I own one. Grab this one from thegib314.

Rival Mob – Giant Life

Barry Bonds juiced. So did Jose Canseco, Mark Maguire and Roger Clemens. The mid 90s was all about the long ball and fast balls. Every game became a home run derby. I’m not sure I’d consider anything the Giants have done to be a Raw Life. But here we have a Rival Mob tee from oddfellowsrest123 that features the SF Giants colorway. Not sure I can hang with this particular color. It’s better than Oakland A’s look, but still. That bright orange LOC on the back is quite ill, though.

This shirt was, of course, sold on the recent West Coast tour with The Mongoloids. Hopefully everyone had a chance to give Doug Free a whats up. Maybe a pat on the back or something. What up, Doug?

PS. I’m not suggesting doing a Red Sox colorway either. You all know why.

Count Me Out

Hey, is that garth4? Not sure, blurry shot. But maybe. Winter 2000-2001. Good winter for tours. I recall seeing Madball and Reach The Sky that winter. Good gig. But definitely didn’t see Count Me Out. I was east coasting while they were west coasting. Smart move during a New England winter. Not sure how itsxdead would handle a New England winter. Doesn’t seem like that kind of guy. Who knows?

Happy Edge Day (Observed)

In honor of Edge Day (Observed) and Edge Day (in general), In My Eyes have put up a new estore on ShopShogun. Not only can you find the IME gear shopshogun has had for the last few years, but you can also find some new designs that Anthony did for the occasion. Check it out! I’d say this one is my favorite.

Not only that, but AP must have cleaned out his own personal stock because he put up some other limited gems from years past. First up is this great screen print done by Damian. I’m pretty certain this was for a record release gig (Bane, I think), but my memory sucks.

Next up is another screen print. This one is from the west coast tour. I actually don’t own this one and will probably be dipping over to shop shogun in a minute to snag it.

And if that wasn’t enough West Coast fun, you could always snag this great tour shirt (don’t mind the missing letters. They all did that) from viciousskin.

Bane West Coast 2001

Bane. The West Coast tour. 2001. Where were you? I was on the east coast chilling, that’s for sure. This tour supported Give Blood. Fun fact. Back when The Note came out, HYE did a auction to support The Team Neale Foundation. The auction included each of the colors of the LP and a stack of goodies. One of the goodies included the original picture of this shirt. Good look!

PS. great seller name: garthxalgar. Party on, Wayne!

Dead Note

Back in the fall of 2006, I got to roll with Bane along the west coast dates of their Dead Note tour. This was a full US tour to promote two new album releases. Strike Anywhere’s Dead FM LP and Bane’s The Note LP. Both pretty excellent albums. This tour also featured A Global Threat and This Is Hell. Quite the mix which always lead to interesting turn outs.

I met up with Bane in San Diego and rolled all the way up to Seattle. The Epicentre San Diego, the Knitting Room in LA, The Glasshouse in Pomona, The Attic in Santa Cruz, The Pound SF in San Francisco and finally El Corazon in Seattle.

The best show was probably at the Glasshouse. Kids were packed in tight, lots of great stage diving potential. Travis and I were having a friendly stage diving contest, which Travis won hands down. Just an excellent vibe and an excellent gig. The Santa Cruz gig involved Good Clean Fun and is a story unto itself.

Here’s the shirt that Bane was selling on the tour. Some kids LOVED it, other kids just scratched their heads. I sold lots of merch on this tour and afterwards, it seemed the only shirts unsold were all XLs. I guess no one wanted a GIANT yellow tee. Weird.

Bane West Coast 2001

Bane. West Coast. 2001.

I wasn’t there, obviously. I was busy getting my undergraduate degree from WPI. This was also the year I stopped keeping my show list up to date. Very lame. I’m sure I had a busy summer, but here’s all I’ve got. Weak.

  • May 30, 2001 @ CBGBs NYC: Burn (reunion), The Cro-Mags, American Nightmare & Frontline
  • June 2001 @ Mass Art Boston Mass: Stop And Think (first show), AN, Shark Attack, Panic
  • July 12, 2001 @ The Well Portland ME: xThe Gamex, Knockdown/Full Contact, No Warning, Anything Goes, No Apologies
  • July 21, 2001 @Function Fest Dover Mass: Bane, American Nightmare, Kill Your Idols, a million other bands (super long day, Dalbec got smacked in the head by Zach’s guitar — Bane’s set was cut short) (pic1, pic2, pic3)
  • July 28, 2001 @ Suffolk Downs Boston Mass: Blink-182
  • August 23, 2001 @ Axis Boston Mass: Good Riddance, Stop And Think, Death By Stereo, Hope Conspiracy

Some great gigs, no doubt. The Blink-182 one was ridiculous. We were the oldest people there, and we weren’t even THAT old. So funny.

I’d trade any two of those shows for a Bane gig at the Chain, Gilman or Che Cafe, though. Not really. Those gigs were chill. Even the one in Portland, ME.

Make sure to check out thenorcalmerchman’s other auctions while you are at it. Some great late 90s, early 2k jams. Continue reading »

Bane Rushmore Tee

I remember this tee was a bitch to track down. Rushmore was HUGE for a hot minute, and no one was letting these go.

They were made in very limited numbers for a West Coast 2002 tour. I obviously live on the East coast and not the Left coast so I had to do some finagling to get one.

I finally tracked one down in 2005 via ebay. At the time, I think I probably spent way too much on it, but it’s a cool shirt.

Sic Transit Gloria – Glory Fades. You see that phrase pop up often in hardcore. True story.

Moral of this tshirt? Enjoy every minute and don’t pass up a good show.
