Power Metal in the US was pretty big for a few years. Whereas metal was already going against the grain of the mainstream, power metal was against against the grain. Harmonies, melody, a singer who could actually sing and lyrics often about wizards, dragons and goblins. What attracted me was the speed. The drummers played a continuous double bass beat which really drove the band (whichever they were). I never really dug too deep in searching out the underground groups but preferred to listen to the easily accessible.
One of the first I got into was Blind Guardian from Germany and my favorite record was “Nightfall On Middle Earth”. orange_vintage has a tee featuring the art from that record, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. That lived in concert gray we love so much rounds out this full color print. I didn’t see Blind Guardian until they were touring on “A Night At The Opera” so I don’t know if this was tour shirt or sold directly through the band. But overall, great band, album and shirt
