So Many Tees… Ruined

Oh just_flipping, what were you thinking turning all these tees into size smalls via tailoring? And then slapping that BIN on the Decline shirt? To each their own and all that, but my mind is just boggled.

How Do The Gods Kill? Brutally.

Well, I was wondering when the action would start kicking up on the Danzig III tee being auctioned by jdecepta, and it looks like the answer was: on the last day and a half of the auction. Yesterday is when this baby started kicking up a storm. I can’t say the same for the Legacy of Brutality tee that he has up tho; as of this writing it is being brutally slain by the HTGK tee in the bidding department…

Misfits and Samhain BIN

stormcrow-vintage is another vintage seller we’ve seen in the past but this time they’re coming big with some classic Misfits and Samhain tees. I think it’s awesome that these still exist and are in pretty decent shape considering the age but look at the Buy it Now prices…did the seller just throw darts at a board with numbers on it? How did you come up with some of these prices? Not even just how high most of them are but the randomness of the numbers….weird.

A Gor-Gor Size Post.

(This is gonna be a long one, and unfortunately it took me so long to hash out that these jdecepta auctions are ending in the early evening, so you might wanna get a snack and then get a bid in while you still have time kids…)

In 1991, when I was just starting to get into music beyond Casey Kasem’s top 40 and the Beatles, I was also just starting my first year at the high school. Being from a small suburban Metrowest town in the age of no internet, there weren’t a ton of options to shape my musical world view. I was a small nerdy 8th grader (my town’s high school went from grades 8-12 at the time) who wore turtlenecks under collared plaid button up shirts and had glasses that would have helped Mister Magoo gain 20/20 vision, so actually befriending the older kids whose fashion and music choices intrigued me was out of the question for at least a couple years, and the nearest record store I knew about was a Strawberries two towns over. I wanted to find out what the hell a Dinosaur Jr was, but I was still confined to what I could find on the radio. Thankfully, luck was with me, as my school had it’s own radio station operating from right after school until 10 o’clock at night. So after dinner, I’d hit my room to do my homework and listen to the final show of night. Which fortuitously enough, tended to be the shows that played the music I was interested in checking out. This also led to me being introduced to music I didn’t even know existed, and in the case of one particular show, that included the likes of Danzig, the Misfits (via constant talk of Metallica covering Last Caress and them singing it at random times), and of all bands, GWAR.

The name of this particular 8-10pm show now escapes me, but for a show with a GWAR obsession, the two upper classmen who ran it were surprisingly normal, semi-preppy dudes. Their names I actually remember, because they also had a morning show called Coffee And Donuts With Adam And Steve. Steve was the more visually preppy of the two, but Adam wore a leather jacket and Converse All Stars basically every day. Only not in the dirty, shop class punk rock way; his always looked pristine, kind of like he had been in a high school production of Grease and the look just stuck. Irregardless, these two dudes and their show were in a small degree responsible for getting me into a lot music my parents hated (the vast majority of the blame still lies at the feet of the punks who hung out in the band room and the dudes from DBNO). Their hatred actually turned out to be pretty ironic; the Adam in Adam and Steve? Adam Green, director of the horror movies Hatchet, Hatchet II, and Frozen (which was actually really good). And now he’s doing a tv show for Fearnet that’s actually named after our mutual hometown, and which features Oderus Urungus from GWAR in a supporting role. My parents think this is FANTASTIC. Go figure.

Poison Free

Do you like the Misfits? Are you straight edge? Then this shirt that drewtilldeath1986 is selling is a perfect fit for you. Bridge 9 made these in hoodies too and they were really popular at one point. They made a newer version too, but it doesn’t look as cool as this one.
It also says poison free on the back, you can check out that picture in the auction.

DANZIG God Don’t Like It band-only Crewneck

Its hard for someone in 2012 to show me a Danzig shirt that I’ve never seen before, but plato117a has done it. The seller is actually an old buddy of mine from back when I was hardcore into Misfits collecting. He used to be Danzigs tour photographer from around 1987-1995. That part is important because when he says this particular crewneck used to be Glenn’s, you know hes not full of shit. Hell, Eerie Von is the one who alerted me to it’s posting via a Facebook post. There can’t have been more than a dozen or so of these made for crew only. Its in mint condition and is probably the coolest Danzig shirt I’ve ever seen. The price is high but given its history and rarity I personally think its worth it.

You can afford it: MISFITS – 3 Hits From Hell OG shirt

This is one freakin cool shirt rickyball is selling. It might be kind of sketchy to look at and real low budget but this is an original, screened by Danzig and purchased through the Fiend Club. Its just how I would want a punk shirt to look, nice and sloppy with an oversized print which is kind of weird for the early 80s. Considering it has less than a day left Im not sure why this isnt going for more, but shitty bootleg Misfits shirts have $250 BINs all over the place.

You Can’t Afford It #2: Misfits.

I’d like to thank my friend and business associate Mister Max G Morton for bringing this Misfits Fiend Club tee being sold by silverruins to my attention for this installment of You Can’t Afford It. This is a really cool tee, and the price isn’t anywhere near as out of control as the Minor Threat tee from our first installment (and there’s way higher to come, believe me), but it still falls into the “not without a fight they won’t pay that” category. And sadly, this seller doesn’t believe in the Make An Offer button…

God Don’t Like It One Bit

Every early Danzig shirt is a banger and this one like the last is no exception. derangedinchaos has a vintage circa 1988 God Dont Like It shirt. I remember when these things would hit $300 every time a few years back, and for good reason . Everyone should have one of these in their collection. Its the kind of shirt you wear to Cracker Barrel on a sunday morning.

What Are You Reading Glenn?

The other day I posted about the first Slayer shirt I ever saw. Well this is the first Danzig shirt I ever saw. I wont name names this time but I remember walking the halls of 7th grade and seeing someone wear this and thinking “What the fuck is that and why is it uncensored??” The dude wearing it was a skater and looked far less sketchy that my Slayer dude, but he was also known to wear Skrewdriver shirts and X up in school while doing acid after school. He became a friend of mine shortly after despite his fake edge, but 33 year old me wishes I had bro-ed down with Slayer dude more.

derangedinchaos has it up right now at a steal of a price.
