I havent posted up any Righteous Jams gear in a while. The other night I bumped into RJ’s frontman Joey C. I havent seen him in about 7 years and his looks may have changed a little but he is still the same old Joey C. Id love to see an RJs reunion in the future cause I bet Joey would still kill it. I also found out we are neighbors for the next week until he moves to a different spot in the city which is kinda cool for a week. I hope to bump into that dude more in the future. Ok enough of my personal blog type post. Here are some camo hats. I couldnt tell you how much is made of each but you dont see too many around any more. You can’t tell in the pic, but those are WarZone camo hats. Original ones. Odds on you finding your own: very slim. But the camo hats INSPIRED by the WarZone hats on those noggins up there? The Righteous Jams camo hats? Not only did we see one earlier in the week, but seller jerseyshore101 has got one up right now for you to bid on, along with an awesomely blue RJ hoodie and another pair of awesomely ridiculous descriptions…

Wear it on the beach.

Wear it at the bar.
Wear it at a hardcore concert.

Who remembers ASAP? I was a big fan of the gear Joey C was pushing. We love the Cro Mags more! It was short lived, but there were some dope tees. Solid logo too. This isn’t an ASAP print, but it’s an interesting Righteous Jams zip hood. I say “interesting” because it involves gold glitter ink. Not really the look for me. Just saying, I can’t pull it off (probably one of the reasons I didn’t buy one of those awesome LOC hoods too). But if you can hang, grab this one from inmyyouth09. It’s still super cheap.

getdown87 is selling a nice shirt. I dont think its Invasion or RJ’s related. I think it would be better classified as a Jesse Standhard appreciation Tee. If you are not personally friends with either of these dudes I wouldnt really see why you would want this shirt. I do so maybe Ill be bidding. Why wouldnt I want a JSH shirt?!?! Best dude. GB Hoodie.

Joey C was the first person I ever knew who had one of the Gorilla Biscuits zip ups like the one that poopzx is selling, well before they were remade for the reunions. I actually have a funny picture of him dozed off in Joe Shumsky’s living room during one of the shows they used to have in their basement. This was probably midway in Joey’s quest for gains. But even if it had been at his skinniest, I don’t think Joey would have been fitting into a youth large…

Isn’t “men’s youth large” a contradiction in terms?

Rainbow Stylin’.

Seller xbestoneyetx brings us another version of the Righteous Jams mesh hat, and while he describes it as “Rasta colored”, it’s pretty clearly rainbow stylin’.

If you want to get all matchy matchy, I’m pretty sure all the colors of the rainbow can be found in this RJ’s sample shirt that he’s selling as well…

I must confess, I have no idea what they were going for with this one. It’s kind of got a Tales From The Crypt vibe going on, which doesn’t really fit any aspect of RJs that I can think of. I’ll have to ask Joey next time I see him.

iowncds Owns More Tees.

Some more auctions to repay my debt to seller iowncds, and I like I said before, good thing none of this is crap. Where would my credibility be then (insert what credibility response here).

Who knew the first Invasion design also had a longsleeve version? I sure didn’t. More solid work from Jay Bil for more classic Joey C bands. If only Jay had done a Stop And Think design…

And as a bonus, he’s also got up this Mouthpiece Bones Brigade rip…

RIGHTEOUS JAMS nyhc mob cold up ice lockin cro bad Oi

I have to question oldtymehardcore‘s keyword choices for his auction titles. I mean, I get it; Rival Mob, Cold World, and Trapped Under Ice are popular searches right now, Cro-mags are always popular, etc… but if you just put random word selections from those names as your keywords, your Righteous Jams auction still isn’t gonna come up when some one searches for one of those other items. I checked. And that’s a shame, because like he says in the description, this was one of the first RJs shirts, and it’s a good one.

Later on I think Joey got a little out of control with this style of shirt (that “We Love The Cro-mags More” shirt, where the words goes backwards up the shirt, for example. Never liked that one as much as the ones Joey made for his screen printing company with the same slogan), but the early RJs shirts that utilized it were sweet. Boston Straight Edge, Stay Righteous… so righteous.

Oh, and the name Righteous Jams? An homage to WarZone. Go check the copyright info on DFTS, DFTS if you don’t believe me. Just figured I outta mention that, given the date and all.

Six Degrees Of Camoflauge Mesh Hats.

I’m sure smurphypurple is a really cool dude, but sorry bro, you’re no Dave Murphy.

What does Dave Murphy have to do with this Righteous Jams camo mesh hat? Nothing, directly. But if you want to get complicated, it’s like this…

Once upon a time, someone on the Mullet board said that when they think of Murphy’s Law shows, one of the things they think of is Dave Murphy trying to put everyone on his shoulders at the same time. What does that have to do with a camo WarZone hat? Jimmy G can be seen wearing a one on the back cover of Back With A Bong, that’s what. Now, stay with me here, Standhard and Joey C both owned WarZone hats; Jesse had the same style as the one Jimmy is wearing on Bong, and Joey C had one that had actually been owned by Raybeez (please see Sit Home And Rot fanzine issue 1 for the full story), the style of which was recently homaged by Naysayer. The RJ’s camo mesh hats, as you can see, were closer to Jesse and Jimmy’s than Joey and Ray’s.

Mental In The Head

As Mental started to fade, towards the end of their career as a band, lots of weird shirts started to come out. Greg was the mastermind behind most of these shirts, as I recall. And the vibe started to veer away from your typical “live shot – varsity font” hardcore tee. Not that Mental was ever really big on the live shot tee (in fact, pretty sure the only live shot Mental tee is the Bridge 9 Records tee. Am I wrong? I don’t think so). But this shirt and others of this era were headed towards the pop art side of life. No beef there. I always like something that is original, stands out from the crowd. This is one of those tees. I think bgmcgee also had a hard time describing it. I think that’s why he was quick to mention where he got … given to m[e] from Joey C of Righteous Jams. Great heritage there.
