I remember I saw this shirt for sale on the first of the Bad Brains reunion tours in like 1998. It was at Toads Place in New Haven and no one could have been more psyched for the gig than me. These shirts were for sale and I remember they were outrageously priced like $40 for a longsleeve or something crazy. Who wants to pay that much for a shirt let alone a shirt with a URL printed on it. The gig itself was pretty good. This round of gigs was the first time people got to witness the new and crazier version of HR. It was pretty tame compared to the more recent gigs with birds in cages and taping himself with a video camera. He came out in a robe over an adidas tracksuit carrying a giant duffle bag that we can only assume was filled with weed and like the first 2 songs he was going off. He was being the HR everyone came to see- Moving around, getting right up to the crowd and then after that he kind of just stood in front of the mic stand for the rest of the set. The first half of the set was ragers and then the last half was reggae and put the crowd to sleep. I safely say that those 2 songs where HR was into it was one of the most incredible things ive ever experienced. Maybe staceypenton was so inspired that he dropped that serious dough on this shirt at the gig.

Remember when they came back as the Soul Brains and they tried to play it off that they changed the name for spiritual reasons instead of someone else owning the rights to “bad brains”? I wonder how they got the name back?
