A Quick(ness) Poster Noize Post.

Just a quick shot of Bad Brains Poster Noize courtesy of seller 1939yanks as an excuse to relink y’all to our post about our friend Sami’s article on seeing the Bad Brains in 2012… my personal opinion is that, much like the price on this poster, it costs more money than it’s worth.

Bad Brains: The Struggle Continues.

Our friend Sami wrote this piece for Vice about the continuing struggle that is going to see the Bad Brains in the year 2012, and while I do not agree with his assessment, it’s more than worth a read (even if Sami is, according to one of the comments, “the jock type who’s never been to a hardcore show in his life”). My own personal view is that, while yes musically the band is impeccable, H.R. brings the entire thing down. Unless you’re going because you’ve never seen them or are getting in for free, seeing Bad Brains isn’t even worth it for the “what weird shit is H.R. gonna do this time” factor anymore, because at this point H.R. doesn’t even really do weird shit. He just strums an unplugged guitar and inaudibly mumbles away to the FM lite version of the songs that exists in his own head, and hey if he’s happy doing it: cool. But don’t pretend it’s worth paying for. It’s not that I want to see him trying to pull off backflips, and it’s no longer a frustrating WTF like it was when he’d come out and sing to a birdcage. It’s just something that makes me feel sad, like the type of sad you feel when you see old pro-wrestlers back on the indies and going through the motions… anyways, whatever your view, malayavintagejunkie has a Bad Brains tee from 1993/94 that I’ve never seen, and since the back declares that The Struggle Continues, I figured it paired nicely with Sami’s work.

Bad Brains with the quickness

Well here we have a Bad Brains shirt from 1989, I was just a tot then. This shirt is in pretty awesome shape and isn’t very dirty for being a white shirt. I know some people out there are iffy about asone75, but he has pretty good feedback lately. I feel like I see more Quickness shirts than anything when it comes to the Bad Brains, they must have made a ton of shirts when they toured.

Over priced Bad Brains And Maximum Penalty

Seller evokeddamnation super bummed me out with his prices on these. The Bad Brains one actually is no surprise; that tee is always up at some ridiculous price (I’m sure at times from this same seller) and there are certainly Bad Brains tees that have sold near that height so I can get the delusion there, but the MP price is just absurd no matter how you slice it. I mean, it’s super cool to see an MP shirt this old, but what MP item has sold for that much ever? I like MP well enough, but come on. Start that low, see what it ends at, then we’ll talk.

Late 80′s Bad Brains

I always love when a seller can provide the information of when and where they picked up specific shirts from. Take evokeddamnation for example…they scored this Bad Brains tee at “a Supertouch, Token Entry, Murphy’s law, Bad Brains concert at The Ritz, (NYC) on May 27, 1988″. So cool. Looks to be in great shape for being 24 years old…worth that price tag? Good question but we’ll see. We’ve seen stranger things on here. My only real question is what exactly is going on in this design? I see dogs, the Capital building, I think a member of the band, a three headed lion…basically a collage of their iconic artwork?

The Youth Are Getting Restless

Well, this Bad Brains tee is pretty much the coolest thing I’ve seen in weeks. I have no idea if it’s legit or vintage, but I can tell you this, it’s fucking awesome. Jaybil, weigh in on this shirt from uniteorlose. You’re our expert. Do it. My best guess .. nah, I don’t even have one. I was going to reference the live album, but who knows if that’s even close. 1987??

The Bad Brains Returned To Heaven In 1986

What were you doing in 1986? Well, I was 7 so I was probably playing football in my front yard with my neighbors. Well satchel001 was taking his lumps at The Ritz in NYC during the Bad Brains 1986 tour. How many of us would have killed to be at that show? I know I would have. The material of the shirt looks thin but it seems like the norm for the shirts of the era…this was taken very gentle care of and I’m wondering where it’s going to go in terms of price. Keep in mind that there is a reserve bid.

Bad Brains – I Against I

Normally, I’d let Jaybil cover all Bad Brains related merch, but he’s working on a special project for me now. Just you wait. You’ll enjoy it, I’m sure. Anyway, I came across this auction from parinya1984 and had to post it up. It’s certainly vintage, but is it OG? The seller is in Thailand, home of bales of vintage tees, but I can’t determine if this tshirt is actually 25 years old, you know? I feel like that hanes tag was used during the early 90s too. Thoughts?

Punk and hardcore starter lots

These two lots that rockandroll-vintage is selling are pretty good for a smaller person that wants a few basics.
This is what the seller lists about them:
“Cold World shirt, it’s a S Blue shirt w/ neon green print. Good condition. As far as i know, it’s an early design.

Outbreak shirt. Also a small, yello shirt. Rasta print. Good condition, Picked this up at some fest, wore it a few times, and packed it away.

Underdog Shirt. White shirt, Medium. Bought this at a Posi Numbers fest, either 03 or 04, from Sketchy Dan, a dude from Montreal, selling them in the parking lot at Homebase.

Gorilla Biscuits Blue front, White shirt, small. Made by shirts for a cure, so not exactly a boot, as the band gave approval for sale, has the gorilla crushing NYC buildings on the back.

Gorilla Biscuits Green front, bootleg design. Small White shirt. Bootleg design. Back Says Gorila biscuits in block font, in black.”

“Cock Sparrer, small, white shirt. Band logo design. Minor stain, barely noticable on the front. Good condition otherwise.
The explosion, small, black shirt, Shirts for a cure design, Black tape logo on front, with pink tarantula on the side, at the bottom left. Average condition, shirt was worn a lot, minor holes around the waist, barely noticable.
Bad brains shirt, small, white. Classic design. no major wear, worn a few times, a dip in oxi clean would really make it pop, but it isn’t nasty by any means.”

Why so big?

Why is the print on this Bad Brains shirt from locker98 so large? Was this a Hot Topic special? I imagine that this one is uncomfortable to wear on a hot day. Or any day. Go big or go home.
