A lot of my friends would go to NYC in 95-99 and come back with tons of NYHC tees purchased on St Marks. Cro-mags AOQ tees were the main choice, but the Murphys Law Killer Beer tee that seller jdecepta was definitely a close 2nd. I never had any one get one for me (I didn’t make it to NYC until 2000 due to always being broke and having a super busy schedule in college), but I always dug that this had the reversed back print a la a Worlds Gym tee or something…

Return Of The Caffeine Nation.
Was 1997 the last time the Descendents did any major touring? I’m not sure, but it was definitely the last time I remember having had the opportunity to go see them… and missing out on it. Seller rossbeetrev is selling a tee from that particular tour, but rather than spend my money on it, I spent my money on something else: Descendents tickets for their show next Saturday in NYC. Money well spent? You know it.
Bane from 96 – 97
I think time has got the better of erikaratekid’s memory. She states that this tshirt is from “around 96,” but she is off by a year or two. Check her timeline, “The back story on this Bane shirt… my memory recalls that I was at a show at St. John’s Gym and Pete gave this shirt to me as a thank you for giving the band a bunch of photos I had taken so they could use them for the Holding This Moment 7″. I believe this is the first Bane shirt that I owned.” Thing is, the Holding This Moment EP didn’t come out until fall of 98. I know back then bands took a little longer pulling together albums, but certainly this album didn’t take two years. Likely, this shirt is from 97 or 98. And I suspect Erika actually owned a Bane SPAM shirt before she owned this one. Either way, this shirt is nearly 15 years old. I love that it’s size GIANT too. Remember when EVERYONE, even GIRLS wore size GIANT? Tre would probably have tucked this shirt in.
Shirtage
ma60drifter has a couple Descendents shirts up right now that if they were a smaller size I would not be posting this. The Descendents are the one bad I really really really wanna see but have eluded me in my show going career. I kick myselff daily for missing the 1997 gigs. If you missed them here is your chance to grab a few from that tour.
I have a couple of these but with non-tour print on the back. I want it!

Not as cool but def a Descendents vibe

And finally a limited new shirt drawn by famed HC cartoonist Brian Walsby. This shirt is a one time printing of 300. I think its pretty cool. Click on the pic to check out them for sale while supplies last, just scroll under the Valient Thorr shirt (no we are not getting a cut or anything from this shirt, just looking out for fellow Descendents nerds)

Fastbreak Go!
This Fastbreak shirt doesnt pop up that often. This shirt is from their first tour ever. I remember getting mine in Don Raymonds driveway at night time after a gig at the new milford teen center the day before they were leaving for said tour. I still have the shirt and its HUGE but those were the times.
This shirt also has a front print not pictured in the auction but its the fastbreak blockletter logo with the little boxer dude from the split 7″ next to it. This shirt comes to us courtesy of mahabysdad

Go Vegetarian
This shirt is for me. I’ve been vegan for 13 years now. Yeah, 13 years. No cheese, no milk, no meat. It can be done. It’s not impossible, and it’s definitely not hard or terrible. Here’s what I had to eat yesterday. Homemade granola with soy milk, a soy latte, chips, hummus, salsa, grilleded eggplant sandwiches with roasted peppers and vegan pesto, grilled corn on the cob, two different kinds of vegan cupcakes (both excellent), fresh vegetables. It was a day of great eating.
But since I’m winning this shirt, I suggest you all head over to revhq.com to pick up a brand new Youth Of Today Go Vegetarian shirt in Small – XL. Just your size. I’ll take this one, you get a new one.
A Reader Request Correction
I like xrebelheartsx. I don’t personally know who this person is, but based on the descriptions given out, we must be kindred spirits. Seriously the line about “not blowing smoke up your ass” in the Bane hooded sweatshirt description had me laughing. It was a quality laugh out loud moment. Judging from some of the other description wordings, I’m assuming the seller is a reader of this site. Speak up if you are out there. Kudos are due!
Now for the correction part, which is actually more of a clarification on detail, I suppose. In this first Reach The Sky tshirt description, the seller says, “I think this one is also from the pre-Victory days, but someone correct me if I’m wrong … Regardless of what era it’s from, this shirt is killer.” These are all correct. But it would be more accurate to say that this shirt is the SECOND Reach The Sky design. WAY before Tony Victory came a knocking. I’ll wholeheartedly agree that it is a killer shirt, of course. I’ve seen it in this blue and a hunter green. You know I prefer the hunter green.
This shirts slays me too. I love the plain graphic font on the front, great color choice too. Sadly, the overbearing, yet tiny ECER logo sort of kills it for me. It just doesn’t fit or match at all.
And this last one, well, I can’t hang. It’s just a little too corny in the graphic department for my taste. I like clean and simple. This was neither, really. Maybe I haven’t reached that point in my life yet. Too soon for me? Maybe next year.
No Turning Back Est 1997
Holy shit, I must be living under a rock. How the fuck have I never heard of this band? No Turning Back. They started playing gigs back in 1997. Fuck, that’s a long time. Hell, in hardcore, that’s nearly 5 generations. Think about it. 13 years. That’s a long time. I can count the number of friends I attended shows with in 1997 that are STILL attending shows. To be a band for 13 years is pretty unheard of. Ange, how come you didn’t tip me off on these guys? For the rest of you, if you want to hear more, check their myspace page.
Not sure if this tank from i-am-mine22 is still available, but damn, it’s a solid look. If I could pull off tank tops, I’d consider it. Then again, anyone attended shows in 1997 is probably too old to get away with this look, right?
13 Years and 1 Day
13 years and 1 day ago, New Found Glory played their first show. Where were you? I was in Maine. I would end up seeing Snapcase on the 14th of June at Zootz. Great gig.
The Discipline
Back in 1997, I had a skater cut. It was this weird faux mohawk thing (pre faux hawk, shotgun hair stylee). I had a couple of friends who had shaved heads. Real cool kids. Ben Davison and Fatty. What’s funny is that Fatty was perhaps the skinniest kid I knew. Somehow, that nickname just stuck.
I hung with Ben’s older sister Shannon a lot. She was a great person. Real down to earth, a very caring person. Sadly, she passed away over 10 years ago in a car accident.
But in 1997, we were all hanging out on an awesome spring day in our little town of New Gloucester, Maine. Much like Saturday, actually. Sun was shining, it was nice and warm. Fatty was jumping on the trampoline and Shannon was helping Ben cut his hair. He had his own clippers and was just going to town.
At that moment, I decided I was done with weirdo hair. I mean, it was a punk cut, but I wasn’t really a punker. I asked Ben to do it up, and he did. It was a pretty surreal moment. Then Shannon hit me with the iciest hose ever to get rid of the hair.
That day, Ben was wearing this Earth Crisis tee. No idea if he was ever straight edge (I wouldn’t become straight edge until 7 months and 300 miles later). And I’m pretty sure he wasn’t vegan. But he was a dude.
Ben Davison, this posts for you.
